  • Mr. Burris Goes to Washington

    By Publicola | January 2, 2009

Corrupt, Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich last week appointed former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris to the vacant U.S. Senate seat once held by President-elect Barack Hussein Obama Jr. The move caused an outcry in the media, and among Democrats on Capitol Hill, as Blagojevich is facing criminal charges for allegedly trying to sell the seat to the highest bidder.

But in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, published today, Burris, whose aides are now calling him “Senator,” is planning to go to Washington D.C. next week and be sworn in as Senator, even though Sen. Majority Leader “Dirty” Harry Reid and even Hussein Obama himself have disavowed him.

“We think they will come around and recognize that the appointment is legal and valid and I am the junior senator from Illinois,” Burris told the paper. “By what authority can [Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid] deny a governor carrying out his constitutional duty?”

“I am the senator, and it sounds good,” said Mr. Burris, a lawyer, in the interview. “I’m giving up a lot of money to go to the Senate, OK? I’m taking a pay cut,” he said, referring to a U.S. senator’s salary of  $169,000 a year.

Blagojevich has used a combination of political correctness and pure, unadulterated Democratic style legalism to roll Reid and the Senate Democrats. The PC move — appointing a black man — gives Blago power in leftist circles. How can anyone deny a black man his rightfully appointed position and not be a racist?, the thinking goes. The legalism — it is legal to make the appointment, and the governor has the power to make the appointment – is also a Democratic tactic of old. Remember, Bill Clinton and the impeachment scandal? What is the meaning of “is”? He was right on legal grounds, though normal people saw Clinton for what he was, a scoundrel.

Obama, by joining in with Reid, and opposing this nomination, has lost his first battle in the U.S. Congress, and he has hasn’t even arrived in Washington. This absurd, PC presidency is going to make for an entertaining four years.

    Call him “Senator,” please.

    1917, Redux?

    By Publicola | January 1, 2009

Was 2008 the best year for socialism since 1917? The Guardian, the leftist, daily newspaper, based in the U.K., has reported as much.  Investment banks, like Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch, failed. Wall Street took a precipitous dip, dropping by close to 40 percent, enraging middle class investors, whose 401K pension plans were threatened enough for them to vote, against all common sense, for an avowed Marxist, Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., a man with no accomplisments in life, save for getting elected, through ever more politically correct manipulations of the electoral system.

But the rage hasn’t amounted to a revolution — yet. Obama called for “fundamental change” and “radical change” when on the hustings. We will see in just over two weeks what kind of radicalism he will, in fact, deliver.

President Bush, strangely, has remarked that he “abandoned free market principles in order to save the free market.” We think this is a bit of a stretch, and, Bush, who is a very intelligent man, ought to know better. America has been heading toward socialism, gradually, for some time now. The failures of major companies during the last year — and the government’s reaction to them — were really nothing new. After the tragedy of 9-11, many of the airlines were faltering, claiming bankruptcy, and the government bailed them out, just like it bailed out many banks, insurance companies, and automakers this year. We’ve had government intervention after the S&L crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. For large institutions, socialism, American-style, has been a reality for decades.

What we need to watch out for with Obama, and the Obumunist hordes now descending upon D.C., is another left wing assault on our society, one that may be even more damaging to liberty and individualism than the previous economic interventions in the marketplace.

Obama and his apparatchiks are planning massive increases in spending for Planned Parenthood, the abortion factory, which already receives hundreds of millions of dollars in government aid annually. They want to triple the size of the organization, founded originally by social Darwinian, anti-black racists, to help bring abortion clinics to every street corner and hamlet in America. They also want to revoke the Defense of Marriage Act, and redefine, for the first time in the history of human civilization, the meaning of the word “marriage.” What’s more, they plan an assault, again, one unseen in American history, on Second Amendment rights, hoping to eliminate all state laws that allow for “concealed carry” and other measures that provide peace of mind and security for citizens and enable them to defend themselves from predators.

This “fundamental change, radical change” is most definitely not about pocketbook issues for Obama and his Marxist thugs.

They want to destroy American culture, from within, so that it can no longer defend itself from threats from without. If they succeed in the coming years, they will make 1917 — the year of the Russian Revolution, and the beginning of Adolph Hitler’s career as a community organizer – look like simply the first act in the leftist struggle to remake humanity.

Obama has big, revolutionary shoes to fill.

Radical foreign political party leader on Obama transition team

    By Publicola | December 31, 2008

A transition team advisor to President-elect Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. is a member of a radical foreign political party, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), a group which seeks to expel Christianity and Christians from Indian society.

Sonal Shah, an employee of Google, Inc., the search engine developer, in Silicon Valley, is a former leading policy maker for VHP, serving on the party’s governing council. She is developing technology policy for Obama.

The VHP is an international Hindu organization that is part of Sangh Parivar, the Indian nationalist movement organized around Hindutva, or Hindu nationalism. VHP has been condemned by the nonprofit group Human Rights Watch and the U.S. State Department for its role in the 2002 violence in the northwestern state of Gujarat that killed more than 1,000 people.

Exposed by the press earlier this month, Shah issued a statement renouncing the VHP.

But, as recently as 2004, Shah made a speech for the party in which she denounced “the hypocrisy of the Western way of life,” and called for a return to a simple, agrarian way of living, as in the ancient world. Which is an interesting, if paradoxical, statement for someone who works for one of the world’s leading high tech companies to make. But, such is Obamunism.

On Dec. 5, a coalition of more than 60 U.S. academics, many working in South Asian-related fields, sent a letter to Obama expressing their concern over Shah’s appointment and the increasing influence of Hindu nationalism in America.

Convicted insider trader George Soros funding Obama inaugural, transition

    By Publicola | December 31, 2008

Radical leftist George Soros has long been dedicated to destroying traditional values in America. The convicted insider trader and major funder of the Center for American Progress, whose president, John Podesta, is a co-chair of the Obama-Biden Transition Project, has now personally contributed $50,000 to the Obama Presidential Inaugural Committee, according to Accuracy in Media.

Many of the personnel whose careers he has funded at the Center for American Progress — communists and fellow travelers — are being picked to staff the Obama administration.

Financing the “big lie,” i.e., hope and change.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright: Dupe or willing accomplice of KGB propaganda efforts?

    By Publicola | December 30, 2008

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, one-time mentor to President-elect Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., has preached repeatedly that the U.S. government created the AIDS virus. Some variations of the story have it that the HIV/AIDS virus was genetically engineered to harm American blacks, while other tellings of the tale posit that the bug was crafted to kill blacks in the Third World. Trouble is, according to new research, published in a book by a leading military scholar, the whole story was made up by the KGB as anti-American propaganda duirng the 1980s. The story was created by the Soviets to discredit American efforts at containing the Communist threat in Africa during the Reagan administration.

According to scholar Scot MacDonald, author of Propaganda and Information Warfare in the 21st Century: Altered Images and Deception Operations (Routledge Publishers), the KGB spread the lies through a number of media, but never anticipated the impact they would have on domestic U.S. politics.

This information about the KGB and the AIDS story raises several questions: Was Rev. Wright, who holds a doctorate degree, aware of the falsehood of the charges against the U.S. government? If he was aware that the charges were fabricated, what is the moral implication of his actions in continuing to promote the story, not only as a human being, and an American citizen, but as a minister of the gospel? What does it say about the world view of Obama if he listened to patent falsehoods like this story, which portray his country quite inaccurately, and yet, embraced Wright as a mentor and “uncle” for decades and titled his best-selling book, The Audacity of Hope, after a sermon by Wright?

What does it mean for America when its next president has had his consciousness shaped by a KGB propaganda program?

The details of the KGB’s AIDS propaganda campaign are found on page 115 of MacDonald’s book.

Caroline Kennedy Demonstrates Valley Girl’s Grasp of English Language

    By Publicola | December 29, 2008

Her Royal Highness of Hyannis Port, Lady Caroline Kennedy, is demonstrating a valley girl’s grasp of the English language in her miserable little campaign for the not-yet-vacant Senate seat of Hillary Clinton, who is not quite the Secretary of State in the still-to-be inaugurated administration of Barack Hussein Obama, Jr.

According to media reports, ” Kennedy can’t finish a single sentence without a ‘You know’ or ‘I mean.’”Kennedy — highly qualified due to her birth and social prestige as the only child of President Kennedy who hasn’t killed herself or her in-laws — has not been battered, unduly, by the mainstream press, over her deficiencies in intellect or talent.  Contrast this with the treatment of say George W. Bush, who was called “stupid,” and far worse, by the young sociopaths at the Huffington Post, for an alleged inability to speak English well.

A recent article at the HuffPo even gloated in the “fact” that it was great to have Hussein Jr. as the president-elect, because he could, ahem, speak in complete sentences, unlike the fascist, warmonger, hateful dupe of Halliburton, and patsy of Dick Cheney, Bush.

But, no such musings about Lady Caroline are permitted in the media. No, her problems with the English language, and provincial, limited travel experience during her life — she barely wanders more than a few blocks around her Manhattan apartment — are something to be ignored, like Obama’s ties to terrorists, Marxists, and racist anti-American preachers.

She will make a lovely Senator from the Valley. So much to give to the Republic with her lifetime of experience of shopping at Nieman Marcus, and extensive collection of designer shoes, and grasp of English rhetoric.

Caroline Kennedy, with, um, like, you know, Joe Biden.

Former science advisor for Al Gore: global warming fears ‘mistaken’

    By Publicola | December 29, 2008

Princeton University physicist Dr. Will Happer — once fired by then-Vice President Al Gore for failing to conform to Gore’s hysterical views on global warming – has now declared that man-made warming fears are “mistaken.”

Happer, who served as the director of Energy Research at the Department of Energy from 1990 to 1993, said, “I had the privilege of being fired by Al Gore, since I refused to go along with his alarmism. I did not need the job that badly.”

He said in 1993, “I was told that science was not going to intrude on policy.”

    Senator Inhofe’s Report

Now Happer has asked to join the more than 650 international scientists who have spoken out against man-made global warming fears and are cited in the 2008 U.S. Senate Minority Report from Environmental and Public Works Committee ranking member James Inhofe (R-Okla.)

“I am convinced that the current alarm over carbon dioxide is mistaken,” Happer told the committee on Dec. 22.

President-elect Barack Obama’s choice as his top science adviser, Harvard University professor John Holdren, is a religious believer in the dangers of man-made global warming and advised Gore on his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Dr. Happer has published over 200 scientific papers, and is a fellow of the American Physical Society, The American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the National Academy of Sciences.

Sen. Inhofe said that the statements of prominent scientists like Happer who are willing to publicly dissent from climate fears strike a blow to the United Nations, Gore, and the media’s claims about global warming.

“The endless claims of a ‘consensus’ about man-made global warming grow less and less credible every day,” Inhofe said.

Happer declared, “I have spent a long research career studying physics that is closely related to the greenhouse effect - for example, absorption and emission of visible and infrared radiation, and fluid flow. Fears about man-made global warming are unwarranted and are not based on good science. The earth’s climate is changing now, as it always has. There is no evidence that the changes differ in any qualitative way from those of the past .

“Computer models used to generate frightening scenarios from increasing levels of carbon dioxide have scant credibility,” said Happer.

Erotica Beat: Lust-struck WashPost reporter Eli Zaslow waxes about Obama’s ‘chiseled pectorals’

    By Publicola | December 28, 2008

The Washington Post once celebrated itself for investigative journalism on politicians. Now, enthusing about them erotically is satisfaction enough, apparently. The paper on Christmas Day reported on President-elect Barack Hussein Obama’s exercise regime. Star struck reporter Eli Zaslow wrote of His Most High Excellency, ”the sun glinted off chiseled pectorals sculpted during four weightlifting sessions each week, and a body toned by regular treadmill runs and basketball games.”

Obama has gone to the gym for about 90 minutes a day, for at least 48 days in a row, Zaslow added.

Contrast this — columnist Michelle Malkin requests — with the coverage that President Bush received for his own work out schedule.   Recounting how President Bush ran 3.5 miles a day, former Washington Post writer Jonathan Chait railed, “Am I the only person who finds this disturbing? … What I mean is the fact that Bush has an obsession with exercise that borders on the creepy.”

    As Malkin observes:

Fit Republican president = Selfish, indulgent, creepy fascist.

Fit Democratic president-elect = Disciplined, health-conscious Adonis role model.

Rasmussen: 45 percent of Americans think Obama involved in Blagojevich scandal

    By Publicola | December 28, 2008

According to research by Rasmussen Reports, 45 percent of U.S. voters— nearly half—say “it is likely President-elect Obama or one of his top campaign aides” was involved in the ongoing Rod Blagojevich scandal in Illinois. Twenty-three percent of all respondents believe that is “very likely.”

An editorial in the Asian Tribune indicates that since the Blagojevich corruption scandal has unfolded, questions have continued to arise with regard to President-elect Obama’s own actions and those of his surrogates. It is significant that the international press—which began fawning uncritically over Obama almost since he announced his candidacy for president, the Asian Tribune writes—has assiduously ignored the story, which contradicts the myth that most Americans see Obama as a sort of savior, especially after the Bush years. “In fact, most Americans are sick of the false picture it is painting about the American President-elect,” the paper notes.
