    What is RLC-IL?

The Republican Liberty Caucus of Illinois (RLC-IL), is an affiliate of the Republican Liberty Caucus.  Illinois has a strong history of liberty-minded Republicans — as this is the Land of Lincoln.  Opinions expressed on this blog are those of the authors, and they alone are responsible for the First Amendment-protected expression.  Any questions about editorial content and policies may be directed to: GOPLibertyCaucus@aol.com

    What does the RLC do?

We are expanding our nationwide base of pro-liberty Republicans. We publish a national newsletter and state chapters publish newsletters as well. We provide our members with information about campaigns, issues and events of interest. Members are active in these various campaigns, etc. and seek to push conservative candidates and issues to the forefront. Our members also attend GOP conventions and gatherings, identify like-minded individuals in the GOP, and cultivate relationships with them. We also maintain relationships with various single-issue groups, e.g. gun owners, in order to combine forces when necessary on an issue of mutual interest.

    What is the RLC’s platform?

The RLC seeks to support libertarian and conservative candidates in the Republican Party.  RLC principles emphasize traditional conservative positions across the board.

    Free Enterprise:

The well-being of Americans results directly from the economic efforts of free men and women. The advent and growth of the welfare state, with its attendant heavy taxation and pervasive controls, has greatly impaired the country’s economic growth. The RLC believes that the good intentions of the welfare state have actually produced only bitterness and economic stagnation. We call for the phase out, as rapidly as possible in view of our commitment to avoid needless human suffering, of the Federal and State apparatus of mandatory social institutions.

    Personal Freedom:

No less than economic liberty is the right of every American to personal liberty. As a matter of principle, as well as accomplishing the defueling of the engines of social conflict and discontent, we believe it is vital to repeal all laws limiting the right of an individual to act as he/she so chooses — so long as he/she does not use force or fraud.

    Protecting Individual Rights:

The most vital function of the government is to protect and defend its citizens from threats posed by foreign governments and opportunistic groups. To that end the RLC supports the maintenance of the means to ward off and defeat any possible foreign threat to the lives, liberty, and peaceful stability of every person within the borders of this nation.
